Supporting Our Veterans

I was asked to give the Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance at the January 9th County Board Meeting.  I asked a good friend Zoeie Kreiner who is the CEO and Founder of a small Veteran Non-profit called “Support Over Stigma” (https://supportoverstigma.org/) to give the Pledge Allegiance at the Board meeting.

Their mission is: Support Over Stigma is a nonprofit dedicated to saving the lives of our Military, Veterans, First Responders and families through the support, education, tools, and resources they need to overcome mental health and service-related challenges.

Zoeie gave a quick introduction about her organization before she led the Pledge.

Tuesday evening January 9th, Zoeie organization had a Ribbon Cutting ceremony for her new facility she has just opened.  I was able to attend and learned a lot more about her organization.

I have also started helping Zoeie in making introductions among several of the Kane Department heads so she could meet with them in working with Kane County.

After the County Board meeting I passed on Zoeie’s contact information to Julie Mann who publishes the Kane County Newsletter.

Kane County Connects published an Article about “Support Over Stigma” on January 22th: https://kanecountyconnects.com/article/SupportOverStigma-KaneCountyGovernment-KaneCountyBoard

On Thursday January 11th before the Judicial Committee meeting I passed on Zoeie’ organization information to Under Sheriff Amy Johnson and requested I wanted to setup a meeting with the Sheriff and herself to meet with Zoeie.  That same morning the Under Sheriff also mentioned she was participating in the 23rd 2024 KCFB Shopping Spree.

I found out at the Agriculture Committee meeting on January 18th that the Under Sheriff has picked Zoeie’s organization to participate.  The Shopping Spree consist of two elected officials picking grocery in a five minute time frame that will be donated to the organization they are representing.

Any food collected will be donated to “Support Over Stigma” Food Pantry.

The reason I had invited Zoeie’s organization to say the Pledge of Allegiance is because one of my mission on being on the Kane County Board is to have the County help small business and also small Non-profit’s.  I am currently working with the Development department to create a list of all Non-profits in the County which they currently do not have.

I have also attached the “Support Over Stigma’s” Palm card.
