Political Baby Faces Needed

This year’s Kane County’s Republican Roundup will include a “Name that GOP Baby” contest.

GOP politicians – past, present and future – are invited to add their pictures to the competition. Please send a picture of yourself between the ages of newborn to 1-year-old, as well as a present-day picture. .jpeg or .pdf files will be accepted.

Baby photos will appear on the Kane County GOP website, as well as be displayed at the Roundup, to be held this fall. The participant who is able to identify the most politicians will win a prize.

Aurora Republicans to Man Kane County Fair Booth

Aurora Republicans are invited to represent the GOP at the Kane County GOP booth during the Kane County Fair, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 18. One- to two-hour shifts are available. To confirm participation, call Bill Wyatt at 630-862-4414.

Aurora GOP to March in July 4 Parade

Aurora Republicans are invited to join the Aurora Township Republican team as they march in the Independence Day Parade in Aurora. Marchers should wear a red t-shirt, and meet at the corner of River and Benton streets at 9:15 a.m. July 4. Participants will be invited to a picnic following the parade. Aurora Township Republicans to Host Ribfest in August

Aurora Township Republicans will celebrate their 20th Annual Ribfest from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, at Cool Acres on Clearwater Drive, off Route 25, in Aurora. Tickets are $20 per person; $50 for a family. $250 sponsorships are available and include five tickets.

Aurora Republican Women Offers Scholarships

Republican women from Kane County seeking financial assistance for college can apply to be considered for the Mary Richards Scholarship Fund.

Mary Richards, a graduate of the Northwestern School of Nursing, served on the Kane County Board for 24 years. She was integral in the formation of the county’s Health Department and the development of its prenatal care program. Richards passed away in 2007.

Scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded.

Applicants must be female, registered to vote and a resident of Kane County, Ill. They must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year college in Illinois, and have volunteered in some form of activity related to the Republican Party. Other conditions also apply.

Applicants also must submit a written essay of 500 words or less, answering the following: I exercise my right to vote because…?

Applications must be received by September 15. Winners will be announced in October.
